Setting up SymbianS60 Development Environment

Hi,

Today we are gonna setup Symbian Development Environment for S60. SymbianOS provides more than one OS like S40, S60 and S80. The latest i think is S60. So building application for S60 you need to have following four things installed on your machine...
  • ActivePerl (Latest version should do the work)
  • Jre (same as above)
  • Carbide.C++ (IDE for symbian development)
  • SDK for symbian (S60 3rd-FP1, S60 3rd-FP2, S60 5th edition)
All of above are easily available from internet. Last two items can also be found from forum-nokia website.
At the moment S60 has three editions as mentioned above. you can download any and start building application for one, well i m using S60 5th edition.

Please install these items in a sequence as they are above. In windows 7, my machine didn't add perl to its path variable so please make sure you add it by yourself.

So thats it.... you have set the environment.

Feel free to leave any comment or any query.

Regards,
Farhan Ahmad
